Went round Gran's again last night for dinner, this time Gran invited Aunt Maud too. I think Gran has decided to include Aunt Maud and is starting to treat her like family. Gran has been snowed in most of the week so we huddled round her Book of Shadows to see if there was a spell to get rid of the ice now sitting outside her house.
After about 10 minutes of us looking at various spells we came across a spell called, The Big Thaw. Gran suddenly started laughing and said, "I remember this spell from when I was a child, we had the most terrible winter and my mum made a spell to thaw the snow and ice". According to the book we all have to imagine a massive ball of fire in our minds while holding our arms out with our palms facing down to the snow. Gran also got her trusted maple wand out. This is her favourite wand and it has magical symbols carved in the handle. It also has a crystal on the end. One day I want a wand just like it, but Gran and Aunt Maud say I am too young and need lots of practice before they let me loose with a wand!
We got our coats on and went outside to see if we could get the spell to work for us. There wasn't a lot of snow left but some ice was still hanging around Gran's step and it would be dangerous if you forgot it was there. We all stood around the step with our palms facing the ice. While we were imagining the fire ball we also had to imagine we were really warm. I could actually feel myself getting warmer from my toes right up to my head! Gran had her wand pointed at the step and was muttering something under her breath. I know from past spells that we all have to say incantations for them to be successful so I asked her to tell us what she was saying. This is what Gran told us to say. "Snow and ice be gone tonight, be gone, be gone make haste, take flight". Thou must disperse before the dawn. Be gone this step and from this lawn."
I looked at Gran's wand and a great blue light was shining within the crystal. It was really pretty. As we looked at the step we could see the snow and ice was already beginning to melt. Another successful spell I thought.
